Greater Johnstown Middle School Reviews

Johnstown is a low class school. They teach the basics, and don't strive for the best. They simply don't care about the children or education.

I agree if I could afford it my kids would also be in private school, my kids are both in ld classes and there has been little improvment in them. My oldest starts middle school soon and I am so afraid for her. She has a hard time making friends. I always tell my kids to treat people the way you want to be treated.(If only all parents would do that!)

Johnstown Middle school is just as good as any other school. They work hard and they do strive for the best. They have lots of after school activities to help improve on the child's education. There may be fights once in a while but the children do get punished. Also this year they are trying very hard to reach the state standards.

JMS is just like any other school. There are problems everywhere but not everyone is aware of that. My major problem with this school is that there is a strong lack of parental involvement. Just because our kids are in middle school doesn't mean that our job as parents is done or that we can slack off. In today's world this is when they need us the most, whether they want it or not. NCLB has opened the door for more parental involvement and we should take full advantage of the opportunity. It's a proven fact that when parents are seen in the school, academics and self esteem go up and children are more productive. Problems also decrease along with low test scores. We can't put the blame on the schools when we are our child's first and lifelong teacher!

This school is completely out of control. Serious behavior problems reported daily by my daughter. Massive cheating with little punishment. If I could afford it, my daughter woul dbe in a private school
